Description

Crispy Baked Avocado Fries are a delicious and healthy snack or side dish featuring ripe avocado slices coated in a crunchy panko breadcrumb crust and baked to golden perfection. Paired with a smoky chipotle dipping sauce, these fries offer a flavorful twist on a classic favorite with a nutritious boost.

Ingredients

Scale

Avocado Fries

  • 2 large avocados (sliced)
  • Juice of 1/2 lime (optional)
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg (lightly beaten)
  • 1 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons oil (divided)

Chipotle Dipping Sauce

  • Prepare your favorite chipotle dipping sauce or use ranch, ketchup, or preferred dip as an alternative

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Pour 1 tablespoon of oil into a baking sheet or tray to grease it and set aside.
  2. Prepare Avocado Slices: If desired, squeeze fresh lime juice over the avocado slices to prevent browning. Season the slices evenly with salt and pepper.
  3. Coat Avocado: Dredge each slice in flour, then dip into the lightly beaten egg, and finally coat thoroughly in panko bread crumbs. Make sure each slice is well covered to ensure crispiness.
  4. Arrange and Oil: Place the coated avocado slices in a single layer on the greased baking sheet. Drizzle the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil over the slices or spray with cooking spray to help them crisp up while baking.
  5. Bake: Bake the avocado fries in the oven for 15 minutes or until they turn golden brown and crispy. Optionally, drizzle a little more oil during baking for extra crispness.
  6. Serve: Remove from the oven and serve immediately with chipotle dipping sauce or your favorite dip such as ranch or ketchup.

Notes

  • Baking instead of frying reduces the fat content and keeps these fries healthier.
  • Adding lime juice prevents avocado browning and adds a subtle tangy flavor.
  • Panko breadcrumbs provide extra crunch compared to regular bread crumbs.
  • Oil drizzle before and during baking enhances the crispiness of the fries.
  • If you prefer a spicier dip, try mixing mayonnaise with chipotle peppers in adobo sauce.
  • Serve immediately for the best texture as avocado fries can soften if left to sit.
