Chicken and Wet Ingredients
- 1½ pounds chicken breast tenders
- 1 large egg
- ¼ cup milk
Dry Coating
- ½ cup flour
- ¼ cup plain bread crumbs
- 1½ tablespoons everything bagel seasoning blend
- 1 teaspoon paprika
For Cooking and Serving
- 1 to 2 teaspoons olive oil spray
- Dipping sauces (for serving)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure a hot environment for crispy baking.
- Prepare Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil and set it aside for the breaded chicken tenders.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the egg and milk until fully combined and set aside.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In another mixing bowl or shallow plate, mix together flour, bread crumbs, everything bagel seasoning, and paprika.
- Coat Chicken Tenders: Take each chicken tender and first dredge it in the breading mixture, then dip into the egg mixture allowing excess to drip off, and finally roll it again in the breading mixture for a double coating.
- Arrange on Baking Sheet: Place all coated chicken tenders evenly spaced on the lined baking sheet.
- Spray with Olive Oil: Lightly spray olive oil evenly over the chicken tenders to promote browning and crispiness.
- Bake First Side: Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes until the coating starts to crisp.
- Flip and Continue Baking: Flip each tender over, spray the other side with olive oil spray, and bake for an additional 8 minutes until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Rest and Serve: Remove from oven and let the chicken tenders rest a couple of minutes before serving with your favorite dipping sauces.
Notes
- Everything bagel seasoning adds a wonderful mix of garlic, onion, sesame, and poppy seeds for extra flavor and texture.
- Make sure not to skip the double coating step for a crunchier crust.
- Use an instant-read thermometer to confirm the chicken reaches 165˚F for safety and juiciness.
- Olive oil spray helps the tenders crisp without deep frying.
- You can substitute plain bread crumbs with pork panko crumbs for a lighter texture.
